Former US President Donald Trump arrived in Manhattan on Thursday for a deposition before New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump made the news on his Truth Social social media site. In a Manhattan court last year, James launched a civil lawsuit for fraud against Trump and his three adult children. According to the complaint, Trump and his family underestimated the worth of real estate holdings in order to obtain preferential financing and tax benefits. Following the filing of the complaint, Trump filed a lawsuit against James.
In March, Trump asked the court to extend the deadline for the case by six months so that he could study millions of pages of documents and question dozens of witnesses. Trump claimed to have established a terrific, prosperous, and wealthy corporation with some of the world’s most precious real estate properties. However, the matter continued, and Trump was required to return to Manhattan for the deposition.
In addition, earlier this month, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office indicted Trump on 34 felony charges of falsifying corporate documents. The accusations stem from allegations that Trump paid two women before the 2016 election to keep the details of their sexual encounters with him from being published. Trump has yet to reply to the charges. He is running for president again in 2024.
Overall, Trump’s legal troubles continue, as he is accused of fraud and falsifying corporation documents. The former president has returned to Manhattan for a deposition before the Attorney General of New York. His legal issues have not deterred him from running for president in 2024. The future of these legal disputes, as well as Trump’s political ambitions, is unknown.
