Britney Spears’ Husband Criticizes Media Exploitation Ahead of TMZ Documentary

Britney Spears’ husband, Sam Asghari, has come forward to condemn those who have subjected his wife to intense scrutiny in the media. This statement comes just days before the airing of TMZ’s latest documentary, titled “Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom.” The documentary explores the life of the pop star after she was freed from her conservatorship in November 2021. Allegations made in the documentary claim that Spears’ mental health remains turbulent, she poses a physical danger to herself and Asghari, and she has been estranged from her children, Sean Preston Federline, 17, and Jayden Federline, 16, for over a year. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Spears for comment.

Asghari Disapproves of Exploiting Spears’ Struggles

In a recent Instagram Story, later shared on Twitter by the account @PopCrave, Asghari voiced his disapproval without specifically mentioning the TMZ documentary. He emphasized that he would never speak on his wife’s behalf and respected her privacy. Asghari expressed his disgust towards those who shared Spears’ story when she lacked a voice, stating, “How are you going to take the most influential person of our generation, the princess of pop, America’s sweetheart and put her in prison where her father tells her what to do… Now you’re going to put her under a microscope and tell her story? No.”

A Glimpse into TMZ’s Controversial Documentary

TMZ’s documentary features interviews with notable figures such as Dr. Charles Sophy, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Kevin Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, and reporters from TMZ who relay information from unnamed sources. It is important to note that these physicians have not treated Spears. Asghari also urged people to be skeptical of online information about Spears, describing it as clickbait that is often misleading.

Spears’ Legal Battle and Engagement to Asghari

Spears and Asghari got engaged in September shortly after her father, Jamie Spears, filed a petition to end the conservatorship. This legal arrangement had granted him control over her estate since 2008. Although Spears had the legal freedom to marry, the conservatorship necessitated approval for major life decisions, including her wedding. After 13 years, the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, allowing Spears to regain control of her life.
