Shaping the Digital Future
In a bid to bridge the gender gap in the tech sector, 29 young women from the EU, Western Balkans, and Ukraine have come together for a summer bootcamp in female leadership. This program, organized by Huawei, aims to equip students with the skills and tools to shape and lead the digital future.
Meet Cassandra and Mylana
We join Cassandra from Spain and Mylana from Ukraine as they embark on an intensive week of learning. From AI and ethics to public speaking and entrepreneurship, the school is packed with workshops and panels. Expert mentors from various fields, including business, politics, and education, share their knowledge and insights with the students.
The Importance of Female Leadership
Huawei’s Berta Herrero Estalayo emphasizes the significance of more women having a say in what future tech should look like. “Good tech” needs diversity, not just in terms of backgrounds but also in thought. Sabina Ciofu from techUK highlights that women from various fields, such as philosophy or law, should consider a career in tech, not just computer science graduates.
Celebrating Success
After a packed week of learning, the students celebrate and reflect at a goodbye gala and awards ceremony. Cassandra is crowned Presence and Purpose Queen, while Mylana takes home the top accolade of Future Leader. This program is not only empowering young women but also paving the way for a more diverse and inclusive tech industry.
The Future of Tech
As these young women take their next steps, they will be equipped with the skills and confidence to shape the future of tech. With their fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, they will be instrumental in creating a more inclusive and diverse industry.
