VivaTech Returns with a Bang
This week, VivaTechnology (VivaTech) opens its doors in Paris for the eighth year, attracting thousands of startups, visitors, and notable tech personalities. AI continues to dominate discussions as France aims to lead Europe in this technology sector.

The event features prominent speakers like Yann LeCun, known as the “Godfather of AI,” and Mozilla’s chairwoman Mitchell Baker. VivaTech expects 2,800 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors over its four-day duration.

Pierre Louette, CEO of Les Echos-Le Parisien media group and co-founder of VivaTech, highlighted the maturity of AI compared to previous years. European Start-Ups and Sovereignty
Over 2,500 startups will participate, conducting significant business during the event. Louette emphasized the need for Europe to create conducive conditions for AI development to prevent talent and companies from moving to the US. He stressed the importance of intellectual and conceptual sovereignty, calling for harmonization of legal, financial, and fiscal conditions across Europe to support tech growth.
Climate Tech, Mobility, and Deep Tech
Key themes this year include climate tech, mobility, and deep tech. Amazon’s CTO Dr. Werner Vogles will discuss global AI applications in addressing critical issues like climate change and food security. Elon Musk’s Tesla will exhibit for the first time, with Musk expected to make another appearance. The fair will also showcase innovations in brain-computer interfaces and quantum computing.
Sports Tech and International Participation
With the 2024 Paris Olympics approaching, sports tech and e-sports will feature prominently. The event will host the finals of Europe’s first official League of Legends Amateur competition. VivaTech 2024 sees a 30% increase in European country participation, along with over 120 countries and 40 pavilions. Japan, as the featured country, will showcase its tech ecosystem, and the Africa Tech Awards will be held for the third year.
