In an attack on Friday, Russia launched over a dozen cruise missiles at Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, resulting in the death of two individuals in an eastern city and damaging a residential building in central Ukraine. Air raid sirens were sounded in Kyiv during the first attack against the city in almost two months.

The Kyiv City Administration reported that Ukraine’s air force intercepted 11 cruise missiles and two unmanned aerial vehicles over Kyiv, but there were no immediate reports of any successful strikes in the city. However, fragments from intercepted missiles or drones damaged power lines and a road in one neighborhood, with no casualties reported.

In another attack, a young woman and her 3-year-old child were killed in the eastern city of Dnipro, and further details were expected to be provided later. Two cruise missiles also struck a residential building and storage facilities in Uman, located about 215 kilometres (134 miles) south of Kyiv.

The regional governor of Cherkasy, Ihor Taburets, confirmed that five people were wounded in Uman and were hospitalized. These recent attacks have escalated the tension between Russia and Ukraine, as the latter has accused Russia of aggression and violating its sovereignty.
