Borrell’s visit included a tour of Camp Ādaži Military Base near Riga. There, he met with NATO’s multinational battle group commanders and interacted with soldiers from the Spanish contingent. This visit highlighted Latvia’s dedication to defense and its collaborative efforts within NATO.
Comparing EU Defense Efforts
Borrell’s Latvian visit followed a similar trip to Estonia, where he met with caretaker Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. In both countries, Borrell praised their defense capabilities and military preparedness. He noted Estonia’s substantial contributions to Ukraine and its efforts to expand its defense industry.
