A recent report by LinkedIn highlights a concerning trend: despite the projected shift in job skills due to the rise of Generative AI, a significant portion of European businesses are falling behind in providing AI training to their workforce. According to the report, only a fraction of companies in the UK, the Netherlands, and France are actively supporting their employees in acquiring AI-related skills.

Recruitment managers across Europe foresee a widening skills gap in the coming years, driven by the rapid advancement of technology. As automation and AI increasingly replace traditional roles, the demand for specialized skills is expected to outpace the supply, posing challenges for businesses seeking to fill critical positions.

Professionals in Europe express a strong interest in enhancing their AI knowledge, recognizing its potential to boost career progression. However, concerns about employee retention loom large, with organizations grappling with barriers to internal mobility and talent retention. LinkedIn’s research identifies factors such as managerial reluctance to promote internal mobility, limited learning and development opportunities, and ineffective talent management processes as key obstacles.
